Why your eBay payout is less than your sales
By Mardood · Reviewed October 6, 2026 · Manual review guide
Reconcile eBay orders, refunds, fees, holds and adjustments to the payout before comparing it with your bank. The payout is a cash movement, not a gross-sales report.
Reports to collect
- Seller Hub payment transaction report
- Financial statement and payout details
- Order records and the bank entry
How to investigate the difference
1. Export from Seller Hub
Use the Payments reporting area to collect transactions and statements. Export the complete period, keeping the original order and payout references.
2. Build the order-to-payout link
Keep sales, refunds and related deductions together at order level. Then group by payout; do not assume one order produces one bank deposit.
3. Review timing and currency
Keep held or unsettled amounts separate from paid amounts. Use the payout currency for the bank comparison and retain the original sale currency.
4. Close or explain the exception
Mark each row as matched, timing-related or still unexplained. Supply the report references when raising an issue instead of only sending a screenshot of sales totals.
Worked example
Illustrative example: two $80 orders do not imply a $160 deposit. If one order was refunded and the other has documented deductions, the payment can be much smaller without a reporting error.
Illustrative only; not a customer result or recovery estimate.
Before using the app
Can Mardood submit an eBay payment dispute for me?
No. You review and submit disputes through eBay. Payout Match accepts prepared eBay and bank rows, but is not a native eBay payout adapter.
